Lt. Gov. Crouch, OCRA announced 13 communities to receive over $8 million in federal grants

Lt. Gov. Suzanne Crouch and the Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs today announced 13 rural Indiana communities will receive more than $8 million in federal grant funding to create and expand community facilities, remove blight and improve water infrastructure.
A County Project receiving Public Facilities Program grant funding include:
  • Decatur County, with the Decatur County Family YMCA, is awarded $500,000 for the completion of necessary building improvements to the YMCA. This project will entail the structural replacement of the roof over the original 39,000 square foot YMCA facility in Greensburg. This project will benefit the residents of Decatur County by stabilizing the structure so that continued public health and social services can be provided, improving the quality of life for Decatur County residents.
A County Project receiving Wastewater Drinking Water Program grant funding include:
  • Dekalb County is awarded $700,000 to build a new wastewater treatment plant for the St. Joe Spencerville Regional Sewer District. The project consists of demolishing the existing treatment facility and the construction of new tanks and treatment facility.

The goal of this conference is to provide a wide variety of training that is applicable for transportation providers. Sessions will include: updates to Asset Management requirements, data collection, data analysis, pavement and bridge preservation, best construction practices, best fleet and equipment practices, lowering life cycle costs, and much more. PDH, CEU, and Road Scholar credits are available.

Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A)

Grant Program is Now Accepting Applications

The Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) Grant Program funds regional, local, and Tribal initiatives through grants to prevent roadway deaths and serious injuries. Funds for the fiscal year (FY) 2024 SS4A grant program are to be awarded on a competitive basis to support planning, infrastructural, behavioral, and operational initiatives to prevent death and serious injury on roads and streets involving all roadway users, including pedestrians; bicyclists; public transportation, personal conveyance, and micro-mobility users; motorists; and commercial vehicle operators.

Applications for the fund are now available.

Sherry Seiwert Program Director with the Indiana Finance Authority (IFA) presented information on the New Residential Infrastructure Fund at our 2023 Annual Conference in the Workforce Housing Development Opportunities session.

Applications for the fund are now available on the IFA website at IFA: Residential Housing Infrastructure Assistance Program.

The Fund may finance public infrastructure for the support of residential housing, including the purchase of land necessary to accommodate an Eligible Project including any soil excavation and/or compaction. All funds will be distributed to a political subdivision in the form of a low interest loan. “ Eligible Project” is a project that includes the installation, replacement, upgrade or improvement of public infrastructure for the support of residential housing.
